Can I run Halo Infinite?

The Halo Infinite system requirements support a wide range of hardware configurations, meaning that while it should be easy to get stuck into a match of Slayer, or join Master Chief on his latest adventure, there's still plenty of demanding graphical options available to Spartans with high-end rigs.

Since it's also available on the low spec Xbox One consoles, the Halo Infinite PC requirements are understandably low. You'll need a gaming CPU as powerful as an Intel i5-4440 or an AMD Ryzen 5 1600, in addition to a 64 bit version of Windows 10 with the Redstone 5 update. In terms of graphics cards, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 570 with 4GB of VRAM will get the job done. Lastly, you'll need a modest 8GB of RAM and 50GB of space available on your storage solution of choice.

To meet the Halo Infinite medium system requirements, and all other higher presets, you'll need to make sure you're running the Windows 10 19H2 update. That jump from Low is decidedly smaller, however, than the CPU requirements of an Intel i5-9500 or an AMD Ryzen 5 2600. Thankfully, Halo Infinite's medium preset isn't too demanding on the GPU front, and requires an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 (6GB) or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT (8GB).

Moving on to the Halo Infinite recommended system requirements, also known as the Halo Infinite high system requirements, an Intel i7-9700K or an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X will meet Halo Infinite's CPU needs. Unfortunately, the GPU requirements shift quite a bit higher and demand an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 (8GB) or an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (8GB). It also requires double the amount of RAM, 16GB in total.

Seeing the game in its absolute best light will see the game become as mighty as the Master Chief himself, but you'll need to have a rig capable of meeting the Halo Infinite ultra system requirements. If you equip yourself with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 (10GB) or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT (10GB) paired with an Intel i9-11900K or AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, you should have absolutely no trouble running the game at its highest possible settings.

If you are worried about Halo Infinite size issues, you might want to make room for the game on your gaming SSD or hard drive. Players can choose to either download Halo Infinite Multiplayer, which takes up 25.86GB of space or the entire Halo Infinite campaign, increasing its file size to 48.42GB.

Halo Infinite review

Our friends at PCGamesN have posted their Halo Infinite review, which you can read here. They've also posted a round-up of reviews, pointing to an overall positive reception for the new entry in the series.

Halo Infinite Steam

If you'd rather not play the game via Xbox Game Pass, there is a Halo Infinite Steam edition that you can download for free. Both versions are free-to-play, but you'll need to pay a premium to pick up the game's campaign when it releases in December. If you decide to switch back to Microsoft's service after launch, you can use PCGamesN's guide on how to transfer your Xbox Game Pass save files to Steam to make the switcheroo as seamless as possible.

Halo Infinite Season 2

Halo Infinite Season 2

has arrived, and with it comes new maps, new game modes, new events, and themed events. The new Last Spartan Standing free-for-all mode pits 12 Spartans against each other, while fans can also now compete in Attrition and King of the Hill matches. The former functions like a battle royale game, complete with an encroaching 'danger zone', with the latter functioning like a test of territorial might.

Halo Infinite bugs

Developer 343 Industries has created a dedicated support article, that lists all the known Halo Infinite bugs that it is working to resolve. We can expect several patches and post-launch content updates to hit the FPS in the coming months.

Unfortunately, it appears as though Halo Infinite’s console cross-save feature isn’t working on Steam. We're not sure whether this will be addressed, given that Xbox and Steam don't share ecosystems, but we'll update this page if this changes.

If you're having trouble launching the game via the Xbox app, check out the guide on how to fix the Halo Infinite Xbox Gaming Services bug on PC, over at PCGamesN.

If you're struggling to hit your target fps, PCGamesN has put together a guide on how to disable Halo Infinite high-res textures which some players are reporting boosts fps.

Halo Infinite settings

Tweaking Halo Infinite settings can also help improve performance in-game, especially if you're struggling to maintain 60fps. By setting the game's minimum frame rate value to the maximum number possible, you should see a substantial difference in terms of fps. If you're using an 144Hz monitor, setting your maximum fps to match your refresh rate can alleviate unnecessary performance caps. However, bear in mind that this won't help your gaming PC churn out more frames, especially if you're playing on a low spec machine.

When it comes to pre-sets, Halo Infinite can be tuned down low, or cranked all the way up to high, which should help you establish a baseline for your PC's capabilities. If your rig is really struggling, you can tweak individual settings to suit your needs, including shadows, lighting, and reflections. Of course, your milage may vary depending on your specific specifications, and the game's optimisation could improve once the main game releases on December 8.
