You can play the game in a singleplayer mode, but only if you set your lobby settings to "Private". Sadly, despite the player's ability to play solo, the game lacks an offline mode, and no plans have been mentioned for such a mode being introduced further down the line. Helldivers 2 achieved a "Playable" rating for the Steam Deck rather than the coveted "Verified" rating. The Helldivers 2 Steam Deck performance is good, but some of the UI can be difficult to read due to the Steam Deck's overall display size. You'll also need to tune some of the graphical presets down in order to run the game well on the Steam Deck.

Once you're in the game, PC and PS5 players are able to send friend requests to one another, and invite friends to open or private lobbies.

If you do struggle to matchmake with friends, you might be encountering network issues locally or on the Helldivers 2 servers. Can Helldivers 2 be played offline?

You must have an internet connection to play Helldivers 2, regardless of whether you are playing on your own or not.
