Helldivers 2 PC requirements

To run the Helldivers 2 PC requirements, you will need at least an AMD Radeon RX 470 GPU, an Intel Core i7-4790K CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 100GB of HD space.

Bring democracy to the terminid and robotic threat in this newly revamped franchise, brought to you by Arrowhead Game Studios. The original game was a twin-stick shooter, but Helldivers 2 takes a third-person shooter approach, and brings a huge number of graphical improvements with it. As a result, the Helldivers 2 requirements are quite demanding of your PC, so you will need a good computer to run the game. 

You can meet the Helldivers 2 minimum requirements on a Windows 10 PC or greater if you have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card, an AMD Ryzen 5 1500X processor, and 8GB of RAM. This will get you roughly 30 FPS on an 1080p monitor if you play on the lowest graphical settings, so you might want to use better hardware and aim for higher Helldivers 2 specs.

You can achieve great performance on a higher graphics setting if you meet the Helldivers 2 recommended specs, which require 16GB of RAM, an Intel Core i7-9700K CPU, and an AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT GPU. Even if you don't quite meet the developer's recommended requirements for Helldivers 2, we've found through substantial testing that you can play the game at 60 FPS on "High" graphics presets using an Intel Core i7-3960X CPU, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER graphics card, and 16GB of RAM. So, you don't need to aim for the latest hardware to get good performance out of Helldivers 2. 

If, however, you want to max out all of the Helldivers 2 graphical presets and still get good performance out of the game, you'll need some really good hardware to meet the demanding Helldivers 2 ultra settings requirements and ultra supersampling presets. From extensive tests across a range of powerful gaming rigs, we've found you can play the game on the maximum settings with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER GPU, an Intel Core i7-10700KF CPU, and 32GB of RAM. This is, of course, a huge mountain to scale and an incredibly demanding requirement to meet. However, the game looks phenomenal at this level, and is definitely worth trying to reach. 

A good internet connection is essential if you want to meet the Helldivers 2 system requirements on account of the game's live service status. You can play the game in a singleplayer mode, but only if you set your lobby settings to "Private". Sadly, despite the player's ability to play solo, the game lacks an offline mode, and no plans have been mentioned for such a mode being introduced further down the line. As a result, you'll still need a stable internet connection in order to play the game.

Helldivers 2 size

The Helldivers 2 download size on PC is 100GB of available HDD or SSD space. Does Helldivers 2 need an SSD? While an SSD has not been stated as a requirement to play the game, we recommend installing the game on an SSD to ensure the best gameplay performance. Helldivers 2 Steam Deck

Helldivers 2 achieved a "Playable" rating for the Steam Deck rather than the coveted "Verified" rating. The Helldivers 2 Steam Deck performance is good, but some of the UI can be difficult to read due to the Steam Deck's overall display size. You'll also need to tune some of the graphical presets down in order to run the game well on the Steam Deck. 

• Set the "Vegetation and Rubble Density" setting to its lowest level to improve your FPS, but be prepared for a fair amount of pop-in with grass and rocks. 
• Turn off Ambient Occlusion, depth of field, and anti-aliasing. 
• Set Motion Blur to 0.
• Set everything else to the "Low" setting.

If you follow our recommended Helldivers 2 settings, you should achieve a somewhat stable 30FPS perfomance on the Steam Deck. Just bear in mind that particularly large swarms can still be quite challenging for Steam's console, so you may need to take out the bugs and robots as fast as you can for the sake of the game's performance.

Helldivers 2 crossplay

Helldivers 2 implements numerous crossplay features that enable PC and PS5 players to join the same gaming sessions through matchmaking. If you are a PC player, you will need a PlayStation account (which is free to setup) in order to play the game. Once you're in the game, PC and PS5 players are able to send friend requests to one another, and invite friends to open or private lobbies. 

Unfortunately, many players are reporting issues when trying to add friends that play on opposing platforms. Specifically, PS5 players are struggling to add PC players as friends, and vice versa. The developer has acknowledged this issue and is working on a fix.

In the interim, the best way of adding your Helldivers 2 friends for crossplay is to set your lobby settings to "Open", head to a more remote planet, set the mission difficulty to trivial, and open a mission (you'll hear the "Helldivers to Hellpods" message when you do this). Inform your friends as to your location (we recommend sending a photo of your location), and you'll be able to join one another. Just bear in mind that this sometimes takes a bit of patience as there may be other Helldivers trying to join you!

Helldivers 2 update

On April 16, 2024, Arrowhead Game Studios released the Helldivers 2 update 1.000.203 which addressed a number of passive ability issues present with the CE-27 Ground Breaker armor from the latest Warbond. Several crash fixes were also introduced with this update, alongside the removal of erroneous red boxes that appeared during defense missions, and resolution of the damage disparity between PC and console players. 

Unfortunately, the latest Helldivers 2 hotfix has also seen an expansion of its Known Issues section. Friend requests between PlayStation and PC players remains an ongoing issue, though some players are finding success in adding their cross-platform friends. The developer has also taken note of the Spear weapon's lock-on time and accuracy, which has a habit of failing even when you have a single large enemy directly in your sights. When fixes for these Known Issues will arrive is uncertain, but the developer is constantly at work rolling out fixes and improvements. Hopefully, a fix for all of this is only a week or two away.

Outside of updates, Helldivers 2 released the Democratic Detonation Helldivers 2 Warbond on Thursday, April 11, 2024. This premium Warbond brought numerous explosive sidearms, and even an explosive crossbow to the Helldiver's arsenal. The Warbond costs 1000 Super Credits, as per the cost of other premium Warbonds. 

Can Helldivers 2 be played offline?

You must have an internet connection to play Helldivers 2, regardless of whether you are playing on your own or not. While you can launch the game in online mode and fight the terminid and automaton threats solo, you cannot do so when disconnected from the internet. If you do try to launch the game while your internet connection is offline, you will encounter an "Unable to establish connection" error. Unfortunately, Helldivers 2 does not have an offline mode. It's possible that an offline mode will be introduced in the future, but the presence of the nProtect GameGuard anti-cheat suggests that an internet connection will be required moving forward to ensure players, even offline players, are unable to cheat.
