Full Frostpunk 2 system requirements for beta access

To run the Frostpunk 2 system requirements, you will need an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GPU, and an Intel Core i5-3210M CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 30GB of SSD space.

The official Frostpunk 2 PC requirements for the April beta access has finally been revealed by the developer 11 Bit Studios. Anyone who pre orders the premium version of the game will get seven days of beta access in April (on top of the 72 hours of early access prior to the July 25, 2024 release date). 

Note, that as these official Frostpunk 2 specs are for the beta access, they are subject to change prior to the full release.

To meet the Frostpunk 2 minimum requirements, you will need an AMD Ryzen 5 5600H processor or similar, alongside an AMD Radeon RX 550 graphics card, and 8GB of RAM. This will only get the beta version of the game running on its lowest settings, so you'll want to aim much higher to ensure you get the best performance out of 11 Bit Studios bold expansion on the original Frostpunk.

So, to meet the Frostpunk 2 recommended specs, you will need at least an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU, an Intel Core i7-9700K CPU, and 16GB of RAM. The original Frostpunk contained a considerable number of particle effects on account of the snowstorms and deforming terrain, so it's not surprising that the developer requires a fairly strong graphics card to get the game running at its best. With Frostpunk 2 set to be even grander in scale, so too will the burden on your PC be increased. Fortunately, the developer's official requirements are more or less what we expected.  

Frostpunk 2 size

The Frostpunk 2 download size on PC for the beta access period is 30GB of SSD space. An SSD is required to play the game, so don't expect to get the game running on a HDD. Frostpunk 2 release date

The exact Frostpunk 2 release date has finally been announced, with 11 Bit Studios promising the game's launch on July 25, 2024. This lines up with their previous decree to release the game in the first half of 2024, and a new Frostpunk 2 trailer.

Pre orders are already live, with premium editions granting a full week's access to the beta version of the game between April 15 and April 22, 2024. This short window of access should more than wet appetites in the run up to the game's release date in July. Of course, players who purchase the premium edition will also get 72 hours of early access to the story mode, effectively making the Frostpunk 2 release date July 22, 2024 for premium pre orders.

Frostpunk 2 beta

The Frostpunk 2 beta is running from April 15 to April 22, 2024, and provides a limited window into the Utopia building mode - a sandbox gaming mode similar to the Endless Mode that was present in the original Frostpunk. Numerous players have reported Frostpunk 2 beta crashes at launch, which can largely be resolved by updating your graphics drivers, restarting Steam, or by restarting your PC. 

For players who launch the game and struggle to update the Frostpunk 2 settings, particularly the Frostpunk 2 beta resolution settings, you'll first need to change the game from "Windowed Fullscreen" to "Fullscreen." This will unlock the resoluton settings option, which will otherwise erroneously say that you can only alter the resolution from the main menu. You can then update your settings, and change the "Fullscreen" option back to whatever you prefer. 

Frostpunk 2 will run on PC system with Windows 10 64-bit or higher and upwards.
