Can I run Riven?

To run the Riven PC requirements, you will need an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 GPU, an Intel Core i5 7000 series processor, 16GB of RAM, and 30GB of HDD or SSD space. 

A remake of the 1997 original, which was a sequel to Myst, this Riven remake has a lot more teeth than it did back in 1997. So, if your PC really is 27 years old (well done, for keeping it running so long), you may want to consider an upgrade to meet the new Riven system requirements for 2024. 

The Riven minimum requirements only requires an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card, an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X processor, and 16GB of RAM. With a GPU from 2019 and a processor from 2018, the only real hurdle to playing Riven comes from the 16GB RAM requirement. Fortunately, to play the game at its best, you don't need wildly better hardware than the minimum requirements, with the sole exception of a RAM bump.

To meet the Riven recommended specs, you'll need an AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT GPU, an AMD Ryzen 7 3800X CPU, and a whopping 32GB of RAM. At this level of hardware, you'll be able to experience the Riven remake in all its graphical glory, even if the game is more RAM hungry than Google Chrome, apparently. 

Riven size

The Riven download size comse in at 30GB of HDD or SSD space. While an SSD is not required, according to the developers, we recommend installing the game onto an SSD anyway to benefit from faster load times, and all the other benefits SSDs have over HDDs. Riven review

PCGamesN scored Riven a 9 out of 10 in its 2024 Riven review, stating that the remake succeeded in breathing fresh life into the 1997 classic, and providing a brilliant start for new fans, as well as old.
