THE FINALS update
Following the surprise launch during The Game Awards on December 7 2023, The Finals has gone on to receive numerous updates and bug fixes. The FINALs update 1.8.0 launched on February 14, 2024, in celebration of Valentine's Day, and included a Valentine's themed event containing six unlockables for players to earn.
However, the largest and perhaps most well-received change from the latest FINALS update was the nerf to nukes. The nerf removes the double explosion and stacking damage that could occur, taming nukes down from overpowered to a more respectable level. There were a number of improvements and fixes bundled with the update, and you can find the full patch notes on the main website.
Despite these bug fixes, you might want to read up on the best THE FINALS settings to give yourself an edge on the competition and achieve the best gameplay performance.
Is THE FINALS slower now than it was in beta?
Now that THE FINALS is out of beta, hundreds of thousands of players are getting to grips with the game. Overall, the reception has been pretty positive, but there's one thing they aren't happy with - players are saying the THE FINALS' movement is slower now than it was in beta.
The criticism over this "sluggish" changeup to movement was so prevalent that THE FINALS dipped into 'mixed' on Steam, according to user reviews, though the game's rating has returned to 'mostly positive' since.
But there's a twist. The game's developer, Embark Studios, insists that they haven't changed the movement speed at all. While trying to pinpoint the source of this perceived feeling of slowness, Embark theorized it might be caused by tweaks they've made to "animations, sounds, and settings", and suggested changing your FOV to address the issue while they work on changes.
