What is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive?

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) expands upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched 19 years ago. CS: GO features new maps, characters, weapons, and game modes, and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust2, etc.).

Editor's Notes

What is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO)?

CS:GO is a competitive multiplayer first-person shooter developed by Valve Software, the company behind Half-Life 2, Portal and the Steam store. There are two teams, the terrorists and the counter-terrorists. They must face each other in either bomb defusal or hostage rescue modes.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive also has a competitive matchmaking mode, where skilled players can compete and climb the ranks. The game is now free to play and has incorporated a Battle Royale mode just like Fortnite.

What's special about CS:GO?

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has a large in-game economy of virtual items. Various weapon skins are available for purchase that allow you to customise your players appearance in-game.

Can my PC run CS:GO?

In order to run CS:GO, you need at least and Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 processor or an AMD Phenom X3 8750 paired with 2 GB of RAM. The game can run well on integrated graphics ; the minimum specification required is an NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GS, so any modern computer can handle the game just fine.

You will need at least 15 GB of hard disk space to download and install the game.
