Can I Run Fallout 4?

The cheapest graphics card you can play Fallout 4 on is an AMD Radeon HD 7870. But, according to the developers the recommended graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780. To play Fallout 4 you will need a minimum CPU equivalent to an AMD Phenom II X4 945. However, the developers recommend a CPU greater or equal to an Intel Core i7-4790 to play the game. You will need at least 30 GB of free space on your hard disk to install Fallout 4. The minimum memory requirement for Fallout 4 is 8 GB of RAM installed in your computer. As an action game, Fallout 4 is best played at impressive graphics with a suitable frame rate to match. To access the Fallout 4 graphics settings, start up the launcher through Steam and choose “OPTIONS”. From here a selection of “Low”, “Medium”, “High”, and “Ultra” details are given. These categorise the appearance of the game into four available choices, limiting the increase in specific graphics settings. To create a custom graphics option, select “Advanced” to be given a variety of graphic choices under the “DETAIL” tab. These choices include texture quality, shadow quality, shadow distance, decal quantity, lighting quality, godrays quality, depth of field and ambient occlusion. Once again, these options can be set to “Low”, “Medium”, “High”, or “Ultra”. Furthermore, the “VIEW DISTANCE” tab displays a selection of options to customise your Fallout 4 render distance. “Object Fade”, “Actor Fade”, “Grass Fade” and “Item Fade” can all be altered by sliding the cursor on the provided bar to preferred distances. Placing the cursor at the far right of the bar results in the furthest possible view distance for that category, and the far left is the shortest. The Fallout 4 framerate cap is determined by your monitor’s refresh rate, which is typically 60Hz or 120Hz. The standard FPS cap is locked to 60fps on PC, and 30fps on consoles. However, for gamers playing on powerful rigs who desire getting the most out of the game, it is possible to unlock the game to run at a higher framerate. This can be achieved by going into the game’s files. Navigate to the “Fallout4Prefs.ini” file in “Documents > My Games > Fallout 4”, open it and search for ‘iPresentInterval=1’. Change the ‘1’ to a ‘0’, save the changes and load up Fallout 4. Fallout 4 updates and patches were extremely frequent in the late December of 2017, but the game is still given attention by the developers, Bethesda. If your system is getting constant low FPS and lag spikes, disabling Vsync can reduce the spikes and increase your FPS. This can be done through the “Manage 3D Settings” section of the Nvidia Control Panel. From here, since the GeForce drivers allow for specific graphics settings for individual games, there is an option to disable Vsync. By default, the driver lets the application control this setting, but you can override it to disable Vsync. Vsync is a display option that allows the frame rate of Fallout 4 to synchronize the frame rate with the refresh rate of the monitor for better stability. For example, using Vsync with a 60Hz monitor will cap the frame rate at 60 fps. Turning off Vsync will obtain a higher frame rate, but could introduce negative, unintended consequences onto the game.

Fallout 4 will run on PC system with Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
and upwards.
