Can I run Project Zomboid?
To run the Project Zomboid system requirements, you need an AMD Radeon HD 5450 GPU, an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9705 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 7GB of HD space.
Project Zomboid is a massive open-world survival simulation in which you, the survivor, navigate a zombie-riddled reimagining of Kentucky, USA. You'll need to scavenge for food, safe drinking water, weapons, a working vehicle, and a secure base if you want to survive for any length of time. Project Zomboid is easily one of the best zombie games on the market, despite still being in Early Access. Fortunately, meeting the Project Zomboid PC requirements is incredibly easy, and it will run on just about any PC out there, even laptops that are 10 years old.
The Project Zomboid minimum requirements only call for an AMD Radeon HD 5450 graphics card or dedicated GPU with a VRAM of 2GB, an Intel Core 2.77GHz quad-core CPU or better, and 8GB of RAM.
While these are the only official requirements published by the developer, we've gathered hundreds of frame rate tests on the game using a range of hardware configurations to create an unofficial but accurate Project Zomboid recommended specs. Given the game can lag when hundreds or even thousands of zombies appear on screen, we recommend using an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT GPU, an Intel Core i5-9600K GPU, and 16GB of RAM or higher to establish a solid 60FPS performance.
Project Zomboid is undoubtably one of the greatest zombie survival experiences out there, so, if you're not sure you meet the Project Zomboid requirements, take our benchmark test using our automatic checker or by manually entering your system details to see how your setup fares.
Project Zomboid size - How big is Project Zomboid?
The current Project Zomboid download size for PC is 6.8GB of HD space.
It is expected that this size will increase as more and more updates are released, but you'll likely never need more than 20GB to install the game. However, bear in mind that you might need more storage space if you set up a multiplayer server or install any of the community's best Project Zomboid mods.
We recommend installing the game on an SSD, though it isn't required you do so, just to ensure you get the best gameplay performance. So, if you need more space or want to make an upgrade, check the PCGamesN buyers guide for the best SSD for gaming or just check the latest, best prices for SSDs.
