The War Thunder requirements aren't what they used to be when the game first launched in 2013. As more and more War Thunder updates have been released, and the game's complexity increased, the demands on a player's PC have slowly risen. To meet the latest War Thunder minimum requirements, you will need an AMD Radeon 7750 graphics card or greater, an Intel Dual Core 2.2 Ghz processor, and 4GB of RAM. Of course, this will only get you up and running on War Thunder, so you might want to set your sights a little higher to get the best game performance and graphics by meeting the higher War Thunder requirements. It's also worth mentioning that veteran War Thunder gamers playing on older versions of Windows will need to upgrade to Windows 10 or higher in order to keep playing as of January 1, 2024.

In order to meet the War Thunder recommended specs, the developers Gaijin Entertainment recommend an NVIDIA GeForce 1060 GPU or better, an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, and 16GB of RAM (which is quite a leap from the minimum specs).

War Thunder size

War Thunder has always been a large game, and it has slowly ballooned over the years, requiring more and more HD space as time has gone by. At present, the War Thunder download size for PC sits at 17GB of HD space. That, however, is only the minimum amount of space recommended. The developers actually recommend that you make 95GB of HDD or SSD space available for the full War Thunder download.

We recommend electing for an SSD over a HDD to eke out some additional performance, which you'll definitely need in the middle of a dogfight or tricky tank manoeuvre. War Thunder update

A new War thunder update 2.35.0.52 arrived on March 27, 2024. The patch contained a considerable number of fixes (17, in fact) for air, naval, and ground vehicles. The latest update also addressed a bug which could cause the game to freeze during startup. For full patch notes, head over to the official site.

By comparison, the massive Alpha Strike update which recently launched added a plethora of new vehicles, including the rank 7 Fox light-tank, and the IJN Mutsu - a Japanese warship boasting "the largest guns in the game." Besides new tanks, planes, and boats, the Alpha Strike update introduced North Holland as a new ground battles map, and added two new Air Realistic Battles: "Kamchatka. East" and "Golan Heights." Of course, an absolute mountain of bugfixes and tweaks were included in 2024's first major update, which you can find on the official War Thunder site.
