Fallout 5 system requirements prediction

It's fairly safe to say that Bethesda is unlikely to abandon the Fallout series following the release of Fallout 76 and Starfield. The modding community has shown that Fallout is still a beloved franchise. In fact, the modding community is so active and so ambitious that one group has even created an entire DLC sized mod which brings the nuclear apocalypse to Britain in the form of Fallout London.

All this is to say that Fallout 5 is almost certain to grace our computers at some point within the next few years. In fact, it's already been confirmed that Bethesda has a "one-pager" design document in place for Fallout 5, so we know that Fallout 5 is in the very, very early planning stages at the very least. Bethesda's last project, Starfield, took roughly 8 years of development to complete. Of course, Bethesda has already confirmed that it is currently working on the Elder Scrolls 6, so Fallout 5 could be a long way aways yet. 

So, assuming that we won't see Fallout 5 until 2032, here's what we expect to see, at the bare minimum, for the Fallout 5 system requirements.

Of course, with our anticipated 8 years of development time for Fallout 5 (and some time to get TES6 out of the way), hardware advancements could escalate significantly. So, we've used the latest hardware as a guide for what will be considered the PC benchmark standard by 2032.

We believe that the Fallout 5 minimum requirements will require an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Super GPU, an Intel Core i9-14900HX CPU, 16GB of RAM, and 100 to 200GB of SSD space. RAM requirements could be even higher considering Starfield was so hardware-hungry that Todd Howard was quoted as saying "It is a next-gen PC game. We really do push the technology, so you may need to upgrade your PC for this game." Fallout 5 is likely going to be the same, assuming it's still six years out or more. 

Of course, predicting the Fallout 5 recommended specs might not be possible at this point because the hardware that could run the game at its best hasn't been conceived yet. The recommended graphics card for Starfield was released in 2018, about three years into the game's development. So, for now, we can only assume that, unless your PC is cutting-edge as of Starfield's release, you'll likely need to upgrade your computer to meet any future Fallout 5 requirements. 

Hopefully, Bethesda will put Fallout 5 into full production so we can return to the Wasteland all the sooner.
