With GTA 6 in the works, but no official GTA 6 PC requirements confirmed by Rockstar, we've analyzed the GTA 6 trailer, the chipsets inside current-gen consoles, and all the latest gameplay footage leaks to predict what we think the Grand Theft Auto VI system requirements will look like when the game launches in 2025. Thanks to recent footage, we're confident that Rockstar are utilizing a particular level of hardware for all of its playtesting, which has further informed our estimates.

Taking everything we've seen so far into account, we estimate that you will meet the GTA 6 minimum requirements if you have an Intel Core i5-6600K CPU, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 GPU, and 12GB of RAM. This should be a high enough level of hardware to get you up and running on the game, but you won't be getting any graphical quality on par with what we've seen in trailers or gameplay leaks. 

To ensure you can play the game the way the developers likely intend, and potentially meet the GTA 6 recommended specs, we estimate you'll need an Intel Core i7-8700K CPU, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER GPU, and 16GB of RAM. We first saw the RTX 2080 SUPER graphics card in use during what appears to be leaked playtesting, which, if true, makes it very likely that Rockstar will recommend the same graphics card to play GTA 6 when it does eventually come to PC.

The GTA 6 requirements for laptop will demand just as much from your machine, though you may want to consider a good water cooling solution if you set the game to the highest settings.

We can expect the GTA 6 requirements to be significantly higher than GTA 5 as it's a game for next gen consoles. Rockstar has announced that the new Grand Theft Auto game will release for current gen consoles in 2025 - that means no GTA 6 Playstation 4 or Xbox One edition. As Rockstar has not yet announced a PC release window, it is likely that GTA 6 will be limited to consoles for a brief window of time.

GTA 6 size

Our estimated GTA 6 size for download on PC comes in at 150GB of SSD storage. This estimate is based on the GTA 6 game size which has been seen in various map leaks, and on the previous GTA 5 size requirements which came in at over 100GB of space. With our estimated GTA 6 storage size being so high, we further estimate that an SSD will be part of the GTA 6 specs. This shouldn't be too surprising to many, considering the ever-increasing presence of SSDs in the minimum requirements for many new games. GTA 6 release date

The GTA 6 release date is set for 2025, with a specific release window anticipated for the first quarter of 2025. The first trailer, which arrived early on December 4, 2023, celebrated Rockstar Games' 25th anniversary and showcased the upcoming GTA release. Apart from an upgrade in graphics, the GTA 6 trailer revealed the female main character's design. The trailer also contained a hidden secret which could indicate how the player's progress is staggered from the start of the game.

GTA 6 Steam

Rockstar has remained tight-lipped about the entire development process behind GTA 6, and has yet to announce where GTA 6 will be available, leading many to wonder: will GTA 6 be on Steam? While Rockstar's previous entry in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, GTA 5, did see a Steam release, it's unclear if a GTA 6 Steam page will materialize. Rockstar have their own launcher, which players are required to use in order to dive into GTA 5 and GTA Online.
