Can I Run Red Dead Redemption?

To run the Red Dead Redemption PC requirements, we estimate you will need an AMD Radeon R9 280 GPU, an AMD FX-6300 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 20GB of SSD space.

Through some clever datamining by Twitter user TezFunz2, we now know that the original Red Dead game and its DLC are heading to PC. Rockstar have not announced it formally yet, but we can expect the Red Dead Redemption 1 requirements to be fairly tame considering the game's age.

So, we estimate that the Red Dead Redemption 1 minimum requirements will only need an AMD Radeon R9 280 graphics card or equivalent, an AMD FX-6300 processor, and 8GB of RAM. It's unlikely that Rockstar, even with graphical enhancements, have made the game so beefy that a rig that's more than ten years old will struggle to run it.

However, this level of hardware may only get you up and running on the lowest settings.

To get the best graphics, we predict that the Red Dead Redemption 1 recommended specs will demand an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 GPU, an Intel Core i5-7600K CPU, and 12GB of RAM. There is always the possibility that Rockstar have gone all out on improving the original game and its DLC Undead Nightmare, but the maximum hardware likely won't exceed what we've predicted given the RDR1 remaster's performance on PS4 and Xbox One.

Red Dead Redemption 1 PC size

We estimate that the Red Dead Redemption download size on PC will require 20GB of SSD space. We generally recommend installing any game on an SSD to improve your performance, but it is likely that the developer will also state an SSD is required to play the game. More and more games are requiring SSD as a minimum requirement, so this PC port is unlikely to be different.

So, if you need more space or want to make an upgrade, check the PCGamesN buyers guide for the best SSD for gaming.
