Fortnite system requirements aren’t too difficult to meet, but you’ll likely need to tweak the settings a little to make sure you stay competitive. Some of these are obvious, like making sure that your view distance is as high as you can manage, or setting the frame rate limit to unlimited. Turning effects to low will help keep your framerate consistent during frantic firefights. To ensure maximum visibility and reaction time, turn post-processing to low and motion blur off entirely. Both these settings create blur which can make it difficult to spot opponents at long distance or during fast movement. Turning off shadows and grass will improve performance, and will also deprive your enemies of potential hiding spots. Vsync can cause visual lag, so only turn this on if you’re experiencing bad screen tearing.
If you have an NVIDIA graphics card, you can improve performance further by navigating to “Manage 3D Settings” in the NVIDIA Control Panel and adjusting the following settings for Fortnite under the Program Settings tab. Set Maximum pre-rendered frames to 1, Multi-Display/Mixed GPU Acceleration to single display performance mode, and Power Management Mode to “prefer maximum performance”. You can also set the preferred refresh rate, but keep in mind that this will be limited by the display frequency of your monitor. For best results, set it to be the same as your monitor’s refresh rate.

Being an Unreal Engine game, Fortnite does tend to favour Nvidia hardware and this situation doesn’t change in Chapter 2. Tweak the visual settings for maximum playability and you can get up to 160fps. Inexplicably chose to run it at 4K – and in doing so sacrifice any winning streaks for best-possible resolution and draw distance – and you’ll need an RTX 2080 Ti to even get over 60fps. Yet Fortnite continues to run well on even low end PC setups, and Fortnite Chapter 2 offers up both speed and improved gameplay and visuals. Good luck with your Fortnite setup.
Fortnite will run on PC system with Windows 7/8/10 64-bit and upwards. Additionally it has a Mac version.
